French Fashion Designer Christian Dior was born in Granville, France in 1905. Christian was from a well to do family and was educated at one of the finest schools in France. Tragically, the Dior family lost most everything they had in the financial crash that occurred in France in the 1930s. Before his great success in Fashion, Dior searched for his place in the world in other cosmopolitan cultures besides fashion. In one of his adventures, he opened an art gallery but it failed horribly and had to close soon after. After being hired by a textile merchant, Dior began work in fashion design. This was his true calling. His designs were extremely popular and within a decade Dior established boutiques and houses of couture in over 20 countries.
